Okay, we're old hats at summer in Denver. We grew up here, and still spend every waking moment in Denver. If we are not at the hostel, we are exploring this amazing city, learning its ins and outs, so we figured, it's time we wrote a blog post on how to get the most of Denver, in the middle of the summer.

STEP 1 - WEAR SUNSCREEN
As much as possible, we will try to avoid sounding like an over-bearing mother. But, we mean it. Wear that sunblock, and wear it good! First things in the morning (after your pick me up coffee at Eiskaffee, of course), put on your sunscreen, and fill up a water bottle. You'll need it for a day of exploring!

STEP 2 - RENT A BIKE OR A SCOOTER
Denver is a biking city, there's no better way to describe it. Unless it's the middle of the day rent a Lime scooter, or a bike, and cruise around every single neighborhood to get a feel for the heartbeat of the city. Feel the wind in your hair, the sun on your face, and see the city like you only can going 15 mph without a helmet on. (That said, please ride responsibly!)
Our favorite routes around? Glad you asked!
The Cherry Creek Trail is your secret roadway for Denver enjoyment. Only bikes and pedestrians are allowed, so you can cruise in confidence next to the water.
STEP 3 - GET DRINKS ON A ROOFTOP BAR
We've said it before, and we will say it again: patios are a right of passage in Denver. Some of the greatest views in town are had when sipping a drink on a hot day, overlooking the downtown or mountains. There's nothing better. A few of our favorites:
LowDown Brewing - Sunset views of the mountains on this massive brewery patio? Yes please!
Linger - If Downtown views are what you're looking for - this is the place, these are the people, and yum, the food. P.S. This is kind of a splurge restaurant, so be prepared.
Avanti Food & Beverage - A rare food hall that has great views of both downtown and the mountains (how do they do it?) and lots of options for picky eaters!
STEP 4 - GET OUTSIDE
Enough with the A/C. As Gandalf would say, "the world is out there" so let's get to it! We love spending time in City Park or Cheesman Park for true Denver vibes, especially in the evenings when the air is cool and you can pop open a beer on the lawn. The Denver Botanic Gardens should also not be missed!

STEP 5 - EAT ICE CREAM
Artisan ice cream is to Denver what gelato is to Italy. Plus, it's hot out there! You just can't miss it, and you can definitely never, ever have enough. A few of our favorites to check out:
Eiskaffee - right in the lobby, dangerously good. Our favorite flavors are Earl Grey Shortbread and Coffee. Yum!
Liks Ice Cream - It's right by Cheesman park and really, really yummy. Get a waffle cone.
Little Man Ice Cream - They have a cult following for good reason. The salted orea and vegan salted oreo are out of this world!

STEP 6 - DO WHAT YOU WANT
It's not really summer until you're enjoying yourself in ways you never have, thinking, "wow, this is the life!" So, as much as we know, we also don't know everything. There is so much to be explored downtown, so take your time and soak it all in!
